Yes the buzz word today is ‘Retail’. The
literal meaning of retail is to sell to the consumers. It clearly
means that it is the point where the actual consumers buy goods or
services and the retailers can take their feedback and pass it on
to the manufactures. This is the crucial aspect as it the point where
you can check whether you are producing right products or not. So
the retail management deals with all aspects of distribution and finally
delivering the products to the end consumers. But it is not restricted
to the products it can be services like banking, consultancy, hotel,
saloons travel solutions etc. So my friends its everywhere, because
as consumers we hardly deal with manufactures it is always the retailer
through him we know what are the new products and new services offered
by the producers.
Now
coming to the future opportunities in this sector, then trust me they
are abundant more you can expect. With rising income level of Indian
consumers and steady growth of Indian economy there is a bright picture
ahead of us. And global players like Wal-Mart, Tesco and Carrefour
are all set to advent in the new sector and Indian players like Reliance,
Birla , Pantaloons are there to pose a stiff competition in the market.
The second growth factor that will accelerate the whole sector with
rocket speed is the opening up of FDI in the retail. So in all, it
will create hell lot of opportunity for the young and educated Indian
youth. The job profiles that will be offered by these business groups
can range from merchandiser to visual merchandiser and from category
manager to brand manager. So there is no stop point for an individual
who is able to learn and flexible enough to cope up with the tight
working schedule because you have to be on toe for whole of the day
understanding “how to make people happy”.
